Every parish has a safeguarding representative. I am the main safeguarding representative for the parish and am supported in that role by one other.
What we do
We run a DBS check and interview all volunteers in roles of responsibility in the parish working with children and vulnerable adults.
I am the point of contact for anyone with safeguarding concerns. I advise on steps to take in possible safeguarding situations. All parish groups working with children and vulnerable adults are fixed with an obligation to ensure that their members are all properly DBS checked and interviewed within the parish before they commence in role. We monitor these at regular intervals.
Who can get involved
Anyone who would be interested in supporting what is a very burdensome but important job. What we lack is administrative support. For many years the burden fell just on me but now it falls upon two. Contact the parish office.
